365 Poems 126 – Hurting (Rough First Draft)

I would climb

into your chest cavity

and talk to your heart.

easing it back to quietly

beating again, not biting

at air like a scared dog dying.

I would hug your heart,

make it feel secure and warm.

I would kiss your heart.

I would dance slowly around your heart.

I would sing to it softly,

from early morning until midnight,

if that’s what it took

to get it back.
