On the topic of depression – New Poem (1st draft)

On the topic of depression

Where is the equipment

to handle this episode of pessimism,

that’s as dark and as deep

as an abandoned well.

I need to peel back the skin and bone layers,

wrapped tight, like plastic around my thoughts,

investigate each and every one.

Pick them apart, carefully dissect

every shred of paranoid insecurity.

But I am scared of going to deep.

Fear is like the threat

of being in the centre of a moorland fire.

But change is inevitable,

and this quiet hurricane will eventually

give way to a dazzling sunrise.
